  1. We've arrived at our first stop at about 4pm. Basically an uneventful 450 miles with the only exception being a drive through a thunderstorm in the city of Ottawa. Visibility was minimal, the highway became a river with just some small hail mix. A real Toad Strangler!
We're off to dinner at the Lumberman's Ale House here in Arnprior. R/C

  2. 450 moles is a good day. I approve! Have a blast out there and practice your stories 😄

  3. Today we left Arnprior at about 6:30am for Sault Ste. Marie Ottawa. . The weather was coolish most of the day, with bright skies throughout. The surprise for me was that while this is a very heavily traveled route, it's only a single lane highway. Fortunately, today is Sunday, so most of the time traffic was very light. Once in a while you'd get behind a pokey local and sit and sit.. Oh, and no matter what road you're on.. the speed limits are 70 or 90.. only that's kilometers, not MPH.. that translate to meme speeds.
Anyway, the scenery was beautiful all day, with farms, woods, interesting small towns and more woods.
We stopped for a walkabout on the shore of Lake Huron where we talked to an 80 yo man that had spent his working years working in copper mines in Sudbury. He told us about a time when a hurricane took out the elevator in the mine, and guys had to climb ladders 2,000 feet to get out. Very interesting guy.
After checking in to our hotel in Sault Ste Marie ( locals just say "The Soo"), we walked on the beautiful local board walk, which hugs the Saint Mary River .. The river empties Superior into Huron, but the real attraction was the historic canal ship lock. We were lucky enough to watch a small cruise boat go through .. pretty dramatic
And.. we ate dinner at a local Italian restaurant. I had to resist ordering Lake Superior Pickerel (yeech). Trying to load photos.. not succeeding
